THE POSITION

Do you love people and have a special place in your heart for animals? Would you dedicate your career to saving the lives of homeless pets? We are looking to add an Animal Services Admissions and Adoption Coordinator to our dedicated team.

This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the adoption process, as well as the intake of surrendered animals, in the Animal Services Department. If you have a desire to brighten the lives of animals through matching them with their forever families, we would love to hear from you!

• Is knowledgeable and experienced in the areas of training and animal welfare
• Possesses the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of staff, volunteers and the public
• Demonstrates versatility while maintaining quality work
• Is highly organized with a strong attention to detail

Skills:  
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, sociology, volunteer administration, animal welfare or veterinary administration, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.

Experience: Two (2) years full-time or its equivalent experience in animal sheltering, one (1) year of which must have included training, teaching or providing animal services education in a public animal control and services setting.

Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience or experience of any of the types listed below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to maximum of two (2) years. One (1) additional year of experience may also be substituted for the required academic major, including:
• Experience working in a public animal control and services setting
• Experience working with animals in a humane, zoological, shelter, conservancy, veterinary or other non-laboratory setting
• Experience training animals in a non-laboratory setting
• Training or teaching experience in a public or private organization
• Experience as a volunteer in a City or County Animal Services agency

SELECTION PROCESS

2. Application Evaluation: Depending on the number of applications received, an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.

3. Oral Interview: Conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board who will evaluate candidates in job-related areas. Candidates must receive a score of at least 70, which may be an adjusted score, in order to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 100%)

The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
