Customer Advisor (Cantonese language) – Occasional Status --Berkeley SC
The Customer Advisor (Cantonese language) – Occasional, (CA) is the initial point of contact for all walk-in customers in the Berkeley Service Center. As first point of contact, the CA is responsible for all aspects of customer service and DDTP equipment/service distribution. More specifically, as a Customer Advisor they will assist customers with finding the right piece of equipment (or service) based on their disability; train them on their selection; collect customer data; and maintain customer databases.

 Serve as the initial point of contact for all aspects related to customer service and DDTP equipment/services distribution in the service center.
 Perform all activities related to customer service and on-site service delivery of DDTP telephone equipment/services distribution.
 Process certification information; assess customer needs according to disability type.
 Distribute equipment and provide training of specialized telephone equipment and network services.
 Work with multiple data bases in order to maintain accurate records for inventory and customer records.
 Collect data from customers for use in planning and marketing.
 Perform minor and non-invasive equipment clean-up and testing.
 Perform initial intake, establish new or modify existing customer account.
 Perform some aspects of equipment inventory, including shipment deliveries and returns.
Representative Qualifications:
Successful candidates must exhibit excellent communication skills. The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English is required, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Fluency in Cantonese (as well as English), is required for this position, fluency in Mandarin or American Sign Language is a plus. Strong candidates will
demonstrate an outgoing, customer-focused orientation; prior experience working with the Deaf, hard of hearing, disabled, and/or senior communities is also desirable.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A. A.) from two-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
 Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Fluency in spoken Cantonese is required for this position, fluency in Mandarin or American Sign Language is a plus.
 Knowledge includes ability to calculate figures in order to maintain inventory counts. Ability to collect and organize data for presentational purposes.
 Physical requirements: Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 Experience working with the disabled community is highly preferred.
 Hours:
This position requires working the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Fridays of each month and the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, as well as any other scheduled times
 Travel:
This position requires regular travel to the San Francisco and San Jose part time Service Centers, limited travel otherwise.
