Minimum Salary: $71,210.07 annually

Maximum Salary: $100,617.97 annually

Location: PC-Main Campus

Basic Function:

This is a full-time, tenure-track, 175-day position as a community college ESL Instructor in developmental and transfer level classes. Teaching faculty are responsible for providing a full professional week which includes, but is not limited to, teaching 15 units of English as a Second Language, and holding five office hours per week.

Other duties include: maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multi-media technology; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.

Education and Experience:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Master’s degree in TESL , TESOL , applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or education with a TESL emphasis
OR
Bachelor’s degree in TESL , TESOL , English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND Master’s degree in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech, or any foreign language

OR
The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. • Meet the minimum qualifications to teach English or a foreign language at the community college level.
• Ability and willingness to work effectively with community support groups, college committees, and other campus organizations and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• An understanding of the advantages and challenges of developing and maintaining a quality ESL program in a rural community college whose student population includes a high percentage of students who live in homes where English is not spoken.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
• Willingness to work with students with a wide range of skills, motivation, and academic or occupational goals.
• Ability to deliver instruction using strategies designed for diverse learning styles.
• Ability to deliver instruction using strategies designed for generation 1.5 students.
• Experience with and/or willingness to teach accelerated classes.
• Ability to create and assess meaningful student learning outcomes.

Salary Grade: Initial placement for all new faculty hires shall be Step 1, Class will range from 2-5 depending on earned degree.
