Under general direction, responsible for building awareness of Sound Transit's brand and promoting its services to a diverse public audience by producing marketing communication products; researches, writes, and edits marketing products to inform and promote Sound Transit across multiple channels including blogs, rider-focused print publications, Tweets, Facebook and Instagram posts, video and web content and email. Adapt existing content appropriately for marketing channels. Develops campaign concepts independently and in a collaborative environment and write and edit advertising and other promotional copy. Ensures marketing materials convey the Agency's brand and values.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
• Writes, edits and researches a wide range of marketing communications products including: digital and print advertising, Facebook posts, Tweets, Web pages, and blog articles; writes, manages, and produces various assigned products such as creative briefs, brochures, "how to ride" guides, promotional video scripts; responds to general questions related to Agency promotional media style, grammar, and branding requirements; determines key audience(s) and communicates in ways that resonate effectively; researches, interviews, interprets and reconciles information; and interprets and translates technical materials for general public audience.
• Writes video scripts and helps craft other video and digital projects and presentations; develops content for public website, soundtransit.org and Sound Transit social media channels.
• Develops and implements marketing communications strategies to articulate to the general public the value of public transit, and to show real people telling positive stories about transit; researches and implements strategies for Social Media and Mobile Marketing.
• Identifies and writes engaging feature-style stories for multiple channels (digital and print). Develops campaign concepts and works with team to develop copy for final executions; interviews and collaborates with technical staff to translate their expertise into engaging content that supports Sound Transit brand and annual communications objectives; researches, writes and edits miscellaneous marketing copy and for agency publications as assigned.
• Serves as project manager of marketing assignments and campaigns; helps develop and maintain brand guidelines.
• Facilitates Agency involvement in large events that involve multiple departments, such as national conferences; and acts as liaison between departments and spokesperson/key contact with outside agencies to ensure that Sound Transit has consistent positions and messages in its marketing communications.
• Supports the team on matters as directed; staffs a variety of committees as assigned; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence; attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to area of assignment; incorporates new developments as appropriate; ensures processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively; ensures accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws, Agency policies and procedures, rules and regulations.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in marketing, advertising, English, journalism, creative writing, or closely related field and five years of copywriting or editorial experience working in marketing/communications/advertising field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Public transit and transportation business, its needs and requirements, and ability to see the possibilities for improving the delivery of services to the customer.
• Sound Transit and its services.

• Project management techniques and principles.
• Methods and techniques of editing.
• Advanced principles of research and gathering information to include in promotional pieces.
• Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.

• Reporting information accurately including compiling and preparing spreadsheets and reports.
• Assessing trends and public sentiment regarding the Agency's services and programs and develop timely, supportive marketing communications materials aimed at influencing those trends and public sentiments.
• Applying problem solving techniques.
• Researching, writing, editing, and preparing a variety of marketing communications pieces including blog articles, brochures, talking points, creative briefs, product fact sheets, and digital content.
• Writing principles and practices including elements of promotional and persuasive writing.
• Maintaining confidentiality and communicating with tact and diplomacy.
• Responding to inquiries and in effective oral and written communication.
• Utilizing personal computer software programs affecting assigned work

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.
• Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
