Minimum Salary: $71,210.07 annually

Maximum Salary: $87,235.54 annually

All coverages begin on the first day of the month following the hire date. Employees are covered under the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and are vested 100% after five years of full time service.

The Kern Community College District provides a maximum contribution of 75% of the existing premium cap to an excellent health and welfare benefits plan. The employee pays 25% of the existing premium cap in addition to their selected plan employee contribution cost.

The District also provides life insurance plans for the employee, as well as an 8.25% contribution to the State Teacher’s Retirement plan. Additional types of insurance may be purchased with pre-tax dollars through an IRS 125 flexible benefit program.

Basic Function:

Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in developing and implementing the Physical Therapy Assistant Program in collaboration with College of the Sequoias. As a full time faculty member at Bakersfield College, successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.

This assignment may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities. Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, and rural communities using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, online and interactive broadcasts.

Other duties include: Assuring effective program operations, overseeing program assessment, participation in budget planning, maintenance of programmatic accreditation, participating in personnel recruitment and evaluation. Establishing effective working relationships with personnel from affiliated clinical education centers and assists with the liaison and coordination between the college and clinical education agencies; participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of program learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities and professional development.

Assignments will be made in the fall and spring semesters and during the program's extended summer session. Actual schedule assignments may vary as program and institutional needs are met.

Education and Experience:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Master’s degree in physical therapy;

OR graduation from an accredited physical therapist program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation,

AND Five years of experience as a physical therapist

AND The following:

• Holds a current license/certification to practice as a PT or PTA in any United States jurisdiction
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in clinical instruction
• Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine credits of coursework in educational foundations. [Proviso: CAPTE will begin enforcing the expectation for post-professional course work in 2018. This will be monitored in the Annual Accreditation Report.]
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Card in BLS .
• Demonstrate expertise in basic educational theory and methodology(curricular design, development, implementation and evaluation), instructional design and student evaluation and outcomes assessment
• Demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background and students with disabilities.
• Successful completion of a drug/alcohol screening before a final job offer can be made.

Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.

• Ability to maintain subject matter currency.
• Ability to assess student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to adopt new technologies that support student success.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California Community College Mission.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS :

• Experience in Physical Therapy Assistant programmatic accreditation.
• Ability to provide leadership in program and college initiatives.
• Ability and willingness to participate effectively in college committee work and in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that support students and the college.

Salary Grade: Initial placement for all new faculty hires shall be Step 1, Class will range from 2-5 depending on earned degree.
