Rate: $60.00/hour; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCAcollective bargaining agreement or your college HR office. This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time positions in the department of Foreign Language and ASL at Bakersfield College.

Basic Function:

This is a pool to fill part-time instructor positions.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of Spanish courses including, but not limited to, Elementary Spanish, Intermediate Spanish, and Spanish for Heritage Speaker, depending on institutional need.

This assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day, evening or weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and multiple teaching methodologies.

Other duties include: participating in student recruitment and articulation of programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; assessing student learning and program level outcomes; collegially participating in department, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s in Spanish;

OR – Bachelor’s in Spanish AND Master’s in another foreign language or linguistics

OR – The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
• Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency;
• Ability to assess student learning outcomes;
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit program;
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
