BACKGROUND:
The Medical Services Internship is a unique opportunity to be involved in a number of clinical service related activities within PPRM's Medical Services Department.
As a large non-profit organization, we have a variety of projects involving any number of our 30 health centers.
The intern will have a direct and key role in working with PPRM's Medical Director on current projects or in creating an individualized project based on the trainee's interests and/or expertise.
What's going on in the organization that leads to the need for an intern in this position?
PPRM continually looks at the creation and implementation of new services as well as process improvement strategies for existing services and systems within the Medical Services Department.
This creates a unique learning opportunity for a solid internship experience.
OBJECTIVES & EXPECTATIONS:
The intern is expected to be in continual communication with PPRM's Medical Director regarding project or internship-related questions and is responsible for preparing a current project status report on a weekly basis.
Communication will be in-person as well as by telephone and email.
Interns must be highly organized, able to multi-task, and prepared to balance the Internship responsibilities with any school, personal, or employment commitments.
The intern must also evaluate given project timelines and negotiate the due date for any requested deliverables well in advance.
The amount of in-office time at PPRM is flexible, and interns may complete project work from home/off-site.
However, project work is expected to be completed on time based on negotiated timelines.
Exceptional interns will be fully engaged in their PPRM work, coming up with unique ideas/solutions to challenges that arise with any projects.
The intern will be able to:
-Coordinate clinical and administrative projects
-Conduct essential survey or other background research, as needed
-Make simple presentations, compile data, work independently, and work comfortably and fruitfully with outside agencies
OTHER INFORMATION:
As an intern in the Medical Services Department of PPRM, you will be provided wrokspace within our department.
A telephone and a computer will be made available to you, based on internal availability.
You will be given access to the information or contacts necessary to complete Internship objectives in a timely manner. |
